Downton and I cook!

this was on pinterest, which may or may not be the downfall of all that is good and right Is it really over already? (I know-- that's what she said.) In Scotland, there is a lot of talk about "rods," which sets up this season finale as one big booty call.

It appears that the sap's risin', and nearly ... Continue reading

Robbie Rogers Comes Out, Retires From Soccer

Robbie Rogers Comes Out, Retires From Soccer Robbie Rogers, a former midfielder for the United States national team, revealed on his website and via Twitter that he's gay and is leaving the sport to discover myself away from football. As he wrote: I have been afraid, afraid to show whom I really was because of fear. Fear that judgement and rejection would hold me back from my dreams and aspirations.

Fear that my loved ones would be farthest from me if they knew my secret. Fear that my secret would get in the way of my dreams. He says he's leaving the sport that he loves, which prompted OutSports to respond: "I am still trying to process a 25-year-old stepping away from a sport he loves." After hearing about Rogers coming out, the head coach of the team, Frank Klopas, said: "Yesterday I thought he was a very good player, and I still think that today.

Should Robbie want to return to the game, we would still be open to him being part of the Fire. As the New York Times notes : "Rogers received abundant support from fans and friends across social media, and Sacha Kljestan, another midfielder for the United States team, wrote on Twitter that he felt '100 percent love and support for one of my best friends Robbie Rogers. You will be missed on the pitch.

Amazing talent, amazing person.' Read the entire message that Rogers posted below: Things are never what they seem My whole life I have felt different, different from my peers, even different from my family. In today s society being different makes you brave. To overcome your fears you must be strong and have faith in your purpose.

For the past 25 year I have been afraid, afraid to show whom I really was because of fear. Fear that judgment and rejection would hold me back from my dreams and aspirations. Fear that my loved ones would be farthest from me if they knew my secret.

Fear that my secret would get in the way of my dreams. Dreams of going to a World Cup, dreams of The Olympics, dreams of making my family proud. What would life be without these dreams?

Could I live a life without them? Life is only complete when your loved ones know you. When they know your true feelings, when they know who and how you love.

Life is simple when your secret is gone. Gone is the pain that lurks in the stomach at work, the pain from avoiding questions, and at last the pain from hiding such a deep secret. Secrets can cause so much internal damage.

People love to preach about honesty, how honesty is so plain and simple. Try explaining to your loved ones after 25 years you are gay. Try convincing yourself that your creator has the most wonderful purpose for you even though you were taught differently.

I always thought I could hide this secret. Football was my escape, my purpose, my identity. Football hid my secret, gave me more joy than I could have ever imagined I will always be thankful for my career.

I will remember Beijing, The MLS Cup, and most of all my teammates. I will never forget the friends I have made a long the way and the friends that supported me once they knew my secret. Now is my time to step away.

It s time to discover myself away from football. It s 1 A.M. in London as I write this and I could not be happier with my decision.

Life is so full of amazing things. I realized I could only truly enjoy my life once I was honest. Honesty is a bitch but makes life so simple and clear.

My secret is gone, I am a free man, I can move on and live my life as my creator intended. (Via Out.com ) Continue reading

Uganda deports producer over "gay" play

It looks like there's more than just gays in Uganda that are getting persecuted because of the anti-gay laws there. Freedom of speech is also suffering as well. David Cecil, theatre producer, got deported back to England after his play was deemed to be promoting gay rights.

Although the case against ... Continue reading

A Sense Of January

The morning golden-blue sky has become a cold-haze. And here we are again. The horrible start of the year that makes January so desolate, unwelcome.

Xfe is away in China (as he always seems to be this time of year). I got up early this morning. Did the things around the house I needed to.

Now it is time for DVD and - what else for 2013 - Dr Who.

It is after all 50 years old on November 23.

11 Doctors, 11 months.

Happy birthday. Continue reading

Splash!: The Second Coming

Splash!: The Second Coming To be fair, however, the atmosphere did seem pretty electric thanks to a pool-side audience of hysterical Tom Daley fans. If Splash! is anything and that s something still very much up for debate then it is the result of a meeting during the Olympics where someone at ITV1 went, A lot of people fancy British bronze medallist Tom Daley, don t they?

He s like Harry Styles, but wet. Can anyone think of a show format in less than a minute which will allow us to put him on prime-time, in clingy trunks? Caitlin Moran in The Times.

This was one of the kinder reviews. Also note a rare non-gender-specific description of his fans and who fancies him. PS Here's a highly selective selection of tweets showing what the great British public make of Tom and the show. "My mum thinks Tom Daley is gay, she can just fuck right of" etc etc.

PPS I heard a rumour that fans of the diving will enjoy the next issue of GT... Continue reading

T.C. & Honeybear

He said please don't take him 'Cause I love him He's my joy and my life For my love I won't hesitate I will give him all that his heart can take And I'll trust him fearlessly I want him to be free It was Andrew Haigh's Weekend that turned me on to this. Immediately I heard it, it sounded like I knew it from my childhood. But that couldn't have been for John Grant's melancholic love song didn't exist then.

So, it must be something that resonates with me.

Bittersweet love always does.

And it has something of the Peter Paul & Mary Puff about it, which does take me back to childhood. Continue reading
