Watch "RuPaul’s Drag Race" Episode 11, Season 5: Sugar Ball

The race gets sticky and sweet, when the queens compete in a pageant of candy inspired couture. In addition to the candy couture, the Queens have to create two other looks: A sweet 16 look, and a sugar momma executive look. But things start off with the mini-challenge, in which they have to create a puppet of a fellow queen, and the reading is by turns funny, and in one case, vicious.

In this episode (and especially on Untucked) we got to see Roxxxy Andrews as petty, cruel, and most tellingly ... insecure . Her constant berating of Jinkx hit its apex this week, and she sadly brought Detox down to her level.

That being said, this was not the best week for Jinkx in the competition, and she deserved to be in the bottom two, where she battled it out with Detox. Fortunately for Jinkx, they have to lip-synch to the weird and fabulous Yma Sumac , which is a perfect fit. Detox is sent home, which is sad, but on the bright side, it leads to this: So the final three is set, with Alaska, Roxxxy, and Jinkx competing to be America's Next Drag Superstar.

Who's your pick?

Check out last night's episode.

Here's last night's Untucked , which is tough to watch. Continue reading

Interview: Kylie Minogue at the NewNowNext Awards

The NewNowNext Awards blazed Logo last night, and I have to say: It was a downright entertaining, slick operation. Aisha Tyler was a perfect host, the performances were eye-popping, candy-colored spectacles ( Tegan and Sara were faaaab), and justice prevailed when Kylie Minogue won the Dance Floor Hero Award. On the red carpet before the event, Willam and I quizzed the "Can't Get You Out of My Head" diva about her friendship with Jake Shears (who presented her with her award), her recent album The Abbey Road Sessions , and the weird, weird stuff in her recent film Holy Motors .

You may notice that I know everything about her. Continue reading

The 5 Greatest Moments of The NewNowNext Awards!

The NewNowNext Awards featured great moments from Chelsea Handler, Kylie Minogue, Jake Shears , and Ke$ha (who, by the way, was an awesome red carpet interview -- she sang a few bars of her mother's song "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" for me!), but if I had to narrow the show down to my five favorite moments, I'd select the following priceless bits. Join me for a recap of the best performances and acceptance speeches.

1. Tegan and Sara perform the hell out of "Closer." Tegan and Sara have a rambunctious energy, and they owned the NNN stage the minute they stomped in unison and started belting from within a storm of colorful balloons.

These guys are total pros (and out lesbian twins!) with surprising command considering their teeeeny statures. And hey, look: That's Azealia Banks .

2. Your eliminated Drag Race queens rise from the dead like zombies.

If you thought Vivienne Pinay and Alyssa Edwards were gone for good, watch your back. At the opening of the show, Aisha Tyler boogied alongside those un-dead girls and Serena Cha-Cha, Honey Mahogany , and Coco Montrese , and the results were a winning mix of "Thriller" movies, Walking Dead iconography, and (duh) gay pride. Speaking of which...

3. Dan Bucatinsky and Jeff Perry make gay Scandal fans proud. Just try not to cheer when our man Dan Bucatinsky talks about being a gay father on TV and in real life.

And then try not to applaud again when Jeff Perry makes a funny observation about their characters on Scandal .

4. Andrew Rannells references Sandra Bullock's Oscar speech in the weirdest (and funniest?) moment of the night. Why didn't Andrew Rannells namedrop his boyfriend when accepting his award for Next Mega Star?

Because of Sandra Bullock and Jesse James , of course. This speech is kind of kooky, but I loved that he shouted out both The New Normal and Girls . Also: He is sexy as hell.

5. Best moment of the night: Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan's message to Republicans. Not even Kathy Griffin has ordered Republicans to "suck my award," but Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan does just that in this sweet, funny speech.

I also love when he announces that his mother accepted his "gay ass" since the day he was born. Andy Cohen, you know how to pick 'em. This guy rules.

What were your favorite NewNowNext moments?

Personally, I think this was the greatest year yet, and I'm not just saying that because I got to ask Kylie Minogue about Little Eva . Continue reading

TV on Tap: "Awkward." Adds Nolan Funk, "Southland"’s Future Uncertain and "Da Vinci’s Demons" Sets a Record

Yeah, like Jenna and Matty will ever figure out how not to be Awkward. News With TNT's winter season wrapping, Deadline considers the state of the channel's four current shows. While Dallas looks likely to return, Southland 's future still looks uncertain.

That's still better than Monday Mornings and Boston Finest , whose futures look bleak. One factor that's still waiting to influence in the discussion is the current crop of pilots TNT is developing. Buzzfeed has declared that Glee has the oldest actors playing teen characters.

Pretty Little Liars came in second, but I can't help but wonder how it would have turned out if this was done before PLL killed off Maya ... Our best wishes go out to soap icon Jeanne Cooper who has been hospitalized. Looking back at Rhoda , the AV Club declares that what made the Valerie Harper -starring sitcom strong creatively letting Rhoda and Joe 's marriage fall apart also killed the series since viewers didn't want to deal with such a serious topic.

In celebration of Veronica Mars 's $5.7 million dollar kickstarter, Buzzfeed looks back at the series' notable guest stars, including ones we didn't know were notable at the time. I'm tempted to re-watch. Family Feud used to be one of my favorite game shows, but it has been ages since I've watched an episode.

I'm disappointed to hear that its devolved into a string of strained sexual innuendos begging social media users to pass clips around. The Esquire Network, which was set to debut next week, won't arrive on your cable grid until summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter , waiting until it can debut with American Ninja Warrior on the schedule. The third season of Hell on Wheels will debut on August 3, moving the period drama to Saturday nights.

AMC says the move is a matter of expanding its schedule and moving the drama to a day that usually features westerns, giving the series a thematically-apt lead in. My first thought was that sounded like a burn off time slot to me, but if BBC America can find success with its Supernatural Saturday line-up, this makes some sense. Thanks to a solid lead-in from Spartacus finale (which almost beat the series' Gods of the Arena high), the premiere of Da Vinci's Demons gave Starz a new record ratings for a series premiere.

When I look at the numbers I have a hard time saying if CNN got good ratings news for the debut of the new Anthony Bourdain series Parts Unknown . Still, 747,000 viewers is pretty good for a Sunday night on cable news. Listings Live!

with Kelly & Michael (syndicated) Check local listings Alan Cumming 's set to discuss his one-man interpretatino of MacBeth with Kelly and guest co-host Peter Facinelli . In Performance at the White House (PBS) Check local listings A group of amazing performers assemble for a tribute to the Memphis soul style of the mid-50s with Cyndi Lauper , Queen Latifah , Justin Timberlake and a lot more performing. The Central Park Five (PBS) Check local listings Ken Burns next documentary for PBS takes a look at the 1989 rape of a woman jogging through Central Park and the five black and Latino teens who were wrongly convinced of the crime.

Awkward. (MTV) 10:00 PM ET While Awkward. is graduating from cult fave to hit series, Jenna and her pals are starting their junior year of high school. Jenna's courseload this year includes a creative writing class with a particularly cruel teacher ( Anthony Michael Hall ) and a classmate ( Nolan Funk ) that's a little too interesting for a girl with a boyfriend.

Chopped (Food Network) 10:00 PM ET It's a special theme episode featuring "ingredients inspired by Australia." Based on my experience of what happens when you include "inspired" in your description of food (also "style"), I expect the mystery baskets will include shrimp, barbies and Vegemite. Who Gets the Last Laugh? (TBS) 10:00 PM ET TBS is branching into the prank shows with this show that puts comedians in the role of prankster and for its debut it has a prank from one of TBS' biggest shows, as The Big Bang Theory 's Kunal Nayyar brings some hidden cameras along for a traffic stop. What!?

The Long and Short of Body Hair (Logo) 10:00 PM ET Logo's latest doc ventures into one of the most divisive topics among gay men body hair. While this doc may include grooming tips, an appearance by Ben Cohen suggests this won't just be about smooth and hairless physiques. Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) 11:35 PM ET I'm going to indulge myself here and mention that Jimmy has a rare appearance by New Order .

They are part of my personal musical holy trinity (along with The B-52s and Saint Etienne ) and they don't show up on the roster of talk show guests very often. Now, I just have to keep from thinking about how they're embarking on another tour that I'll completely miss. What will you be watching tonight?

Meme: Andrew Garfield Supports Marriage Equality, NOM Plots World Domination, and Patton Oswalt Looks On the Bright Side

I don't know what to say about the explosions in Boston. Information is changing so fast anything I write will be out of date. What we know as I'm writing this is that two bombs went off, most likely set in trash cans.

Three people are dead, including an eight-year-old boy, and 141 people are injured. The FBI has taken over the investigation. On the bright side, people rushed to help rather than running away, and NBC has reported that some marathon runners kept running after the race straight to the hospital to give blood.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by what is officially being called an act of terrorism. Anthony Mackie says that the Falcon will play a big role in Captain America: Winter Soldier when it comes to Cap taking down his former buddy. "I'm happy to say that I m in a good deal of the movie and I play an integral part with Captain America taking down the Winter Soldier. It's great." The longer interview with Matt Salmon , son of GOP Rep.

Salmon has him saying that reparative therapy had a benefit of teaching him to talk to men. When Anderson Cooper gets him to agree that it helped him meet guys, Anderson quips "I think your doctor right now is spitting up his coffee." It turns out that just a sip of beer can make the brain release dopamine. Researchers sprayed just 15 mL on subjects tongues while they were under a PET scanner and saw brains release large quantities of dopamine.

Does this mean I can buy singles instead of thirty-packs? Jeanne Cooper , the grande dame of Young and the Restless , has been hospitalized in critical condition since the weekend, and details are scarce. Her son, actor Corbin Bersen, says his mother is slowly moving in the right direction.

I've scanned Y&R since I was in elementary school and my mother watched it, and Cooper was always such a strong character to me. I wish her a speedy recovery. Andrew Garfield is a supporter of marriage equality. "Of course I m in favor of marriage equality.

Same-sex couples should have the same rights as anybody else. There is no argument against equality. How can anyone argue against compassion and understanding?" Spartacus War of the Damned brought in big numbers for Starz, with 4.8 million viewers over the weekend, and provided a strong launch for Da Vinci's Demons (which I'm lukewarm about) with 2.14 million viewers.

Which of your teen shows has the oldest teenagers, i.e., the actors playing the roles? The Carrie Diaries gets it closest with 21.33 years old, while Glee takes the top spot with 26.38. Teen Wolf , Pretty Little Liars and Secret Life of the American Teenager fall in the middle.

It turns out, while Anne Frank did like pop culture, she probably would not have been a Belieber . According to the American Library Association , the most challenged book wasn't Fifty Shades of Grey , but the Captain Underpants series. Gay classic And Tango Makes Three came in at #5 on the list.

I have a sudden urge to order copies of all ten books and put them in the night drop box at my local library. Pope Francis came dangerously close to admitting fallibility. "Let us all remember this: one cannot proclaim the Gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of one's life. Preaching with your life, with your witness.

Inconsistency on the part of pastors and the faithful between what they say and what they do, between word and manner of life, is undermining the Church's credibility." I've known this for a while, but cabaret legend Joel Grey will be playing a Las Vegas magician with a new trick on Warehouse 13 this season. And his new trick may shoot Pete into orbit. The National Organization for Marriage has been messing around with equality in France for several months, but that was just the beginning as Jeremy Hooper uncovers their plans to spread hate worldwide.

This is not one of America's better exports. The U.S. Navy has named a research ship after astronaut Sally Ride .

Ride passed away last year from cancer, and it was later revealed that she had been in a long term lesbian relationship. Mike Rice may have been fired from Rutgers for physically abusing players and yelling gay slurs, but he's still coaching. He's kept his position as coach of an AAU girls team, where he can work on his techniques with 12 year olds.

Twilight 's Nikki Reed has joined Murder of a Cat . The dark comedy is about a young man who discovers his dead cat was living a double life with a second owner. See, I told you to never trust a cat.

New Zealand is set to have the third reading of their marraige equality bill Wednesday, and based on previous votes, it is expected to pass, with the first marriages taking place in mid-August.

I always love Kiwis, nicest people when I visited their country. Continue reading
